Hi,
I have seen some talk of the train repair for this trip. If you look at the schedule for June it shows a bus from Chamonix to Le Chatelard-Frontiere but if I try to look at August 2013 sbb schedule it doesn't show the bus as an option and the trip becomes a 7 hour trip!! Does anyone know what this means/ Is there not going to be bus service in August?? Please respond with ANY help or suggestions. Thanks.

I was in the area in autumn last year and from what I remember the train was not running through as they were doing some kind of work up there and you had to switch to a bus. I can only guess that the train will be fully operational in August again. Best is to send the SBB a email and ask. Jim.

Lisa , It sounds like SBB is routing you the long way around ( Chamonix-Geneva-Montreaux and back down ) . In any event this link provides the current information for the status of the Mont Blanc Express and the bus substitutions :http://www.tmrsa.ch/upload/Interruptions%20SNCF%202013.pdf This is in French , so you will need to translate . I'm traveling to Chamonix from Martigny via Chatelard later this fall ,so I found this quite useful !
