We will be skiing a week in Chamonix in February then have 4-5 days prior to going to Valdisere. Looking for something to do those days. Any ideas of interesting places to visit for those few days on a train route that can still get us to Valdisere? Looks like there is some sort of train that goes to Val d'Isere.

Carla: I'm curious where you found an indication that there's a train connecting the two towns? I did a quick search and don't see a public train connecting the two.

According to www.valdinet.com, the closest train station to Val d'Isere is Bourg-St Maurice. From there you would need to take either a taxi or a bus to the resort. That same site says there is bus service from Geneva, Chambery, Lyon, and Grenoble.

Following up on Tim's post, the highway distance from Bourg-St Maurice to Val d'Isere is ~20 miles/40 mins driving time.
