Central Brussels to Midi Station in the early morning

We are catching a 8:30am flight from Brussels-Charleroi Airport, meaning we will need to get to the airport at around 6:30. We're planning to take the Brussels City Shuttle, which leaves from the Midi Station at 5:30.

Our hostel is located on Boulevard Émile Jacqmainlaan, and I am wondering what is the best way to get from there to the Midi station. I am thinking taxi, since the metro doesn't seem to run before 5:00am, and I don't know how safe Brussels is in the early morning hours (this is in October, so it will most likely be completely dark still). Are there any other travel options? And if taxi is the best choice, how do we procure a taxi at this hour?

There are night buses in Brussels, but they only run at the end of the week and they finish at 0300. I don't think any of the routes would be very convenient for that trip anyway. You could probably make it to Gare de Midi if you took the first route 3 or 4 pre-metro from de Brouckere or Rogier at 5am, but it's a bit too tight when you're on your way to a flight.

The area around Gare de Midi in Brussels is not very nice and you probably wouldn't want to be wandering around there with luggage in the small hours. I would definitely prebook a taxi, but I've never personally done that in that city. I would ask the people at the hostel to recommend you a firm while you are there.
