What are my options for getting from CDG into Paris. We are staying in the Rue Cler Area. Any recommendations re taxi service, etc. Will they give you a flat fee or does the meter run. Thanks for you help Karen
The meter runs. All taxis apply the same rates. You can find the rates here: http://www.taxi-paris.net/page38.html Go to one of the taxi ranks outside the terminals to get your taxi. That way, the meter will start at zero. If you call a cab, you'll be charged from the time the driver gets the call. A taxi ride from CDG to central Paris will cost you somewhere around 50 euros. Cheaper options are the RER/Metro, or a bus. You can catch an Air France bus or the "Roissybus." You can get information about public transportation here: http://www.ratp.fr/ You can get information about the Air France buses here: http://www.lescarsairfrance.com/en.html
Hi, we found a car service on the Internet and per-booked. They met us off the plane. We got caught in a lot of traffic, but because it was a set price time was not a factor. I can't imagine a cab meter running in all that traffic. We definitely got our monies worth.
If you have three or four people, a taxi is easy and cheap. Just spent $60 euro for four of us from CDG to the 6th. That cost included a one euro supplement charge for each bag put in the trunk and for each person. The gratuity is included in the price charged. Make sure there's no amount already on the meter when you get in.
And DO NOT use any of the drivers at CDG who come a track you down and try to sell you their car service. Either pre-book or get an official taxi from the taxi stand.
