CDG to Paris at 8am

Our flight will land in CDG at 6:30am. By the time four of us are ready to travel into Paris, I figure it will be around 8am. We plan to take a taxi, but I am wondering if we will just be stuck in traffic at that time. Will RER be a better choice in this case?

Thanks in advance

Barring a weekend arrival, yes, traffic will be miserable by 8am. Unless you carry an inordinate amount of luggage, RER is almost always a better choice.

RER is your best choice. Traffic in paris is awful most of the time.

Or you could take an airport shuttle (paris-shuttle.com) and then not worry about the traffic. For a party of 4 the price is 16 euro each, to any address in Paris.

Does the shuttle just wait till it fills up? I am travelling alone. I land around 1 pm on a Tuesday, and was thinking of taking RER/metro, but door-to-door service for 16 euro sounds really tempting.

Chani: The 16 euro rate is if you are a party of four If you are alone I think it is 18 euro. You have to pre-book (www.paris-shuttle.com) and you share the van with others who have booked. It is not like at Tel Aviv Airport with the "sheroots" which just wait around until all the seats are filled.

Chister,

Chances are you will be ready to head into Paris earlier barring a delay in landing. Regardless, I think the RER is a terrific way to get into Paris from CDG having done it twice myself. As a fellow Texan, you will appreciate my funny RER story. I was sitting on the train waiting for it to depart when I couple boarded speaking Spanish to each other. I assumed they were from Spain until the man said to me in a strong Texas drawl, "is that an Aggie ring you're wearing?" Sure enough, a fellow Ag and not only that, we probably had partied together while at A&M (though too many beers and too many years prevented us from remembering each other). He was on the rugby team and I used to go to their parties. :-) Just goes to show that it truly IS a small world.
