CDG to Luxembourg Gardens

I tried the search option for help, but I guess I am hopeless, so I am hoping you all can help me out!

We are arriving into CDG and want to get to our hotel which is right across the street from the Luxembourg Gardens, the Palais du Residence.

We would prefer to take the cheapest way to Paris, but if a shuttle would be much easier, we would do that instead.

Thanks for any input!

Sandi....the regional transportation authority for Paris (RATP) covers the metro, buses, and the regional commuter trains (RER) in the city and its suburbs. Click here to access the site and it's excellent journey planner. Simply enter "Aeroport de Roissy" as a PLACE in the first box, then the hotel's address as an ADDRESS in the second box, and the approximate time of your departure from the airport (allow at least an hour to clear customs and immigration and get to the nearest RER departure point). It will ask you to better specify the terminal at CDG you'll be arriving at, to give you the proper route and timings. In a new window, a complete routing will pop up, along with times and transfers necessary. You can also use this page to look at RER and Metro maps. The cost from CDG to anywhere in central Paris is 8.60 Euro per person, and the ticket allows you to transfer to the Metro until you reach your destination.

Hi Sandi
I too have stayed at the residence du palais. I thought it was very nice for a budget hotel. Hope you enjoy your stay. I took the RER B line to St. Michel Notre Dame took line four to the metro stop Vauvin. and it's 3 blocks from there. On the way to the hotel you pass a great number of little places to eat. Including a great creperie

Thanks so much!!!

We are leaving in less than 4 weeks, and I am getting really excited , but a bit anxious too.....

My husband has never been to Europe, and has never really used Metro systems.

I am getting nervous about our luggage on the metro/RER after reading some other posts.....

We will have one wheeled suitcase, one dufflebag and a carryon...

I did notice an RER stop called Luxembourg...is this close enough to where we are going to walk from, thus eliminating the change to a metro?

How much is a shuttle instead?

Thanks again!!

If that's all the luggage between the two of you, then you won't have any problems. If you use the RATP travel planner, it'll tell you exactly how to get to your hotel.

As Doug suggested in his post, you could get off the RER B at Luxembourg and easily walk from there to your hotel. For the least amount of walking, the RATP Journey Planner suggests taking the RER B to Denfert-Rochereau and Metro line 4 from there to Vavin.

No worries. It is so easy to take the RER train from CDG to downtown Paris you'll be amazed. If I knew the address of your hotel I could tell you the route and the closest metro stop. Most likely you will need to take the RER to Gare du Nord train station & buy metro tickets there and find the metro. Once you've ridden the RER & metro in Paris you'll never want to travel any other way. I guarantee it.
