CDG-Roissybus-Hotel-Metro-St. Sulpice 7am-11:30am

Assuming that our flight arrives on time (6:55 am) on a Sunday morning, will we be able to do these things and get to the organ concert at St. Sulpice by 11:30? We will be travelling light. Each of us (3 adults) will have only what we can carry which will be one backpack and one carry-on sized rolling bag. Get through airport controls. Ride the Rossy Bus the Opera area. Our hotel is about 1/2 mile walk from there on rue Amsterdam right across from the post office at Gare Lazare. We would just check-in (if possible) and drop-off our luggage. The hotel will hold luggage even if we can't check in yet. Ride the 12 metro line to the Sevres Babylone stop and walk from there to St. Sulpice. We already have 3 metro tickets.

Good plan. You should be okay if your flight arrives on time. If for some reason you're running behind schedule, plan B might be taking a taxi from the hotel to the church.

Thanks, Tim. My husband hasn't asked for a lot on this trip, but he really wants to make this concert. I'm doing my best to make it happen.

Hi Bets. I was wondering if bags would be forbidden in the church. This may make our arrival day more pleasant. Thanks.

Forbidden? Good question. I'm here right now and can go by SS one of these days and will see who I can ask directly. Watch for a private message. Can you send me the info on the exact concert date, either here or by private message. Is it a free weekly concert or a special concert? Another option is to get a one-day transport ticket, ride the RER to Gare du Nord. If you are running too late, you can store your bags in the lockers there and take the 4 to SS. Then pick your bags up after the concert.

It's the 11:30 Sunday concert R.S. mentions in his Paris guidebook. Date: September 23rd this year. I had considered the option of leaving bags at Gare du Nord. My hang-ups on that plan were: going from terminal 1 to terminal 3, waiting in line to buy RER tickets at CDG (we will have some paper Euros but no coins...would have to stop and buy stuff to get change or find a change machine), locating the lockers at Nord and waiting in that line. I began wondering if the Roissybus would be faster since it stops at terminal 1, and we can pay the driver when we board. It is a Sunday morning so the traffic shouldn't be too heavy. However, any advice you can provide would be helpful because all my information is from online research, not real experience. We have been to Paris twice but never from an airport and never to these parts of the city.

Here's the scoop. If your plane is on time you should have no problem. I walked from where the AF bus stops up rue Amsterdam and it's only about 12-15 minutes, a bit uphill next to the station. The neighborhood is calm on Sundays with the stores closed. My suggestion of storing bags at Nord is worthless and take as much time. However, I checked today at SS. The woman in the sacristie said you can bring your bags in. Use the side door, rue Palatine , which is to the right of the church when looking at the front. The small side door is between the second set of massive pillars. Then you should put your bags in the sacristie, which is just to the right when you go in that that door. They will watch them for you. Timing is:Mass from 10:30-11:30, music from 11:30 to 12:05 when another mass begins. It just happens that I had to go near Gare SL yesterday and met a friend for lunch near SS today. Enjoy. Also, I agree that if you are running late, take a taxi.

BTW both masses are with the organ, so if you arrive early and hear an organ, you aren't necessarily late for the music between masses.

We dropped our bags at the hotel, and had time to wander around the St. Sulpice area before the concert. Had a lovely time.
