My sister and I need to meet at CDG, I flying in on Lufthansa and she flying in on Air France. I was hoping that we could meet outside the Customs area--does anyone know if that would work or is there a better place to meet? We'll be flying in at around the same time. thanks so much!
Lutfhansa uses Terminal 1 and Air France uses Terminal 2. If you're going to take the RER into Paris, then I suggest that you meet at the CDG 1 RER station which is next to Terminal 3. You would need to take the free 24/7 CDGVAL shuttle train from Terminal 1 to the station. Your sister should ignore the fact that there also is a RER station at Terminal 2 and take the CDGVAL from Terminal 2 to the CDG 1 station.
Do not choose the Customs area; there may be more than one at CDG.
Choose either the Air France reservation counter or the Lufthansa reservation counter. When meeting anyone I always choose a site for which there can be only one.
Thanks, Tim and Carl for your replies. Perhaps the easiest place to meet would be one of the airline ticket counters. Can either of you (or anyone else?) point me in the direction of the CDG airport layout and/or terminal layout? e.g., is there one Lufthansa ticket counter and is it in only one of the terminals? Thanks.
Becky,
I got your private message, but I'll respond here so others can read it and either affirm or refute my suggestions.
For maps of CDG go to either the Aeroports de Paris site, www.adp.fr, or www.easycdg.com. Since you will arrive at Terminal 1 and your sister will arrive at Terminal 2 and you would like to make things as simple as possible for her, I suggest that she stay in Terminal 2 and you take the CDGVAL from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. Good places to meet would be the TGV/RER station which is directly below Terminal 2 or the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel which is directly above the station.
Tell her to follow the "Sortie Exit" signs, reclaim her luggage, go through Customs and Immigration, and walk to either the TGV/RER station or the Sheraton Hotel.
Tim, thank you so much. I really, really appreciate it.
