I would appreciate any very up-to-date advice on touring the catacombs of Paris. Thanks.
Leslie did you go on their website? A tour is not needed its a straight walk through sort of thing( well obviously its not straight , but I mean its just one long pathway ( you can see other passages but they are blocked off)
Bring a sweater even in summer .
Yeah - the web info I looked at all seemed somewhat outdated. So I thought I'd reach out to anyone who has been very recently. sweater - check
Thanks.
Went to Catacomb last year mid July. Arrive about an hour or 1.5 b4 they open at 10 and you should get in a bit after 10:00. Much longer wait if you join the line later in the day. Bring a tiny flashlight so you can peer down the closed paths. Sweater for sure, the ceiling drips, path can be muddy and slippery. Definitely an interesting experience.
Lynnn you mean 1/2 an hour, not an hour and a half right?? I went a few years ago and there was like a five minute line, can't beleive its gotten that much worse!
Lynn is exactly right -- be there early. I was there three weeks ago. We were in line by 9:15, and there were about 50 people in front of us. By the time it opened, we couldn't even see the end of the line -- blocks and blocks long. I second a sweater/jacket and a flashlight. And be ready to be dripped on and to walk through shallow puddles.
