Does anyone have recommendations on what castle hotel to stay at a couple hours around frankfurt? or on the rhine? I have a 4 and 5 year old girls thought it would be fun for them. Something that really looks like a castle. Advice appreciated.

We stayed at the Castle Hotel Schoenburg a few years ago. It is a bit pricey but really looks and feels like a castle. We had a one bedroom suite that had a single bed tucked into a cupboard in the living area. There are so many little nooks and crannies to explore and don't miss having a drink on the terrace overlooking the Rhine. The restaurant was also very good for dinner. http://www.hotel-schoenburg.com/index.html Happy Travels!
For families, try Burg Stahleck - the HI, DJH-affiliated youth hostel in Bacharach. No question - it's a castle! If you're moving around by train, be advised that oming and going on foot from the castle involves hundreds of staircase steps, so one night might be best. Burg Stahleck The St. Goar hostel is an an old villa just below Burg Rheinfels Castle has a view of Burg Katz castle across the river. It's much easier to come and go on foot from there and less expensive, and it also has family rooms. It's the large building on the lower left in THIS PHOTO. It's a fine place to spend additional nights.
