Based in Arles for a few days, but could also stay elsewhere a day or two. If you had your choice, which would you choose - Cassis or Coulieres?
Kristi -
I've been to both - Collioure twice and Cassis more times than I count. Perhaps I'm biased having been so often to Cassis, but that's what I'd pick of the two. Collioure is lovely and both can be pretty touristy, but I just think Cassis has a great vibe to it and the fact that the Calanques are just nearby makes the difference.

Kristi - I'm not sure I can explain why but I'd choose Cassis in a heartbeat. I've taken day trips to both and Colliere didn't do much for me but I fell in love with Cassis and would gladly spent a couple of days there. I found the Cassis harbor charming, the Calanques are nearly, and the whole setting is lovely. If you're a wine drinker, be sure to visit Le Chai Cassidain wine bar.
Thank you so very much!
Coulliore is charming, but farther from Arles (practically in Spain). It also lacks Calanques (but has an actual beach with sand)--it's coastline is not rugged like that around Marseilles.
