Cassis and Luberon - how far?

Will be staying in Arles for 3 days, but before hand thought we would stay in Cassis for a night or two...even three if we could travel to Luberon villages from there.
Does anyone out there have suggestions for us? We have a car. We're artists and want some nice little towns with not too many crowds, if that is possible.

It seems like Cassis is a bit far from the Luberon to travel back and forth, if that's what you meant. I would just go to Cassis for a couple nights and then find a small village in the Luberon area. Cassis is a beautiful little town with a picturesque boat-filled harbor and a square with groups of petanque players. It was warm in mid-October when we were there and we hiked to one of the calanques and swam there which was one of the highlights of our trip.

We go down to Cassis from our place in the Luberon fairly regularly (when we want a little whiff of the sea and some good seafood). It's an hour and a half drive (and just an hour from the other side of the Luberon around Lourmarin)...

Kristi - It's doable, to stay in Cassis and do a day trip or two to the Luberon. We stayed in Lourmarin and did day trips all over Provence. Lourmarin is one of the closer Luberon villages to Cassis, has Most Beautiful Village status, and has a wonderful Friday market. Bonnieux, Lacoste, Roussillon, and Gordes are other Luberon villages to consider.

I'd prefer Arles over Casis as a base to the Luberon, maybe stay another day? Then spend your time in Cassis, in Cassis.

Otherwise you are just doing more driving than you need to, and seeing less.

If you are feeling extra extra nimble, stay a night in the Luberon.
