Carry on luggage to Spain

I am traveling Delta -flying from Cincinnati to Paris, then a connecting flight via Air France to Barcelona and I am trying to only take carry on luggage. In reading the forums, I am concerned that if I have a carry on + a personal item on the US to Paris leg, will I then only be allowed 1 item carryon from Paris to Barcelona when I connect? In addition, it seems Air France notes "no aerosols" on the liquid ban, so will my little itty bitty hairspray need to not be aerosol? Thanks

I also forgot to ask about carry on sizes. As there is a slight difference between the rules on Delta and Air France, do I need to make sure my carry on fits Air France regulations? I don't want to get to Paris only to get hit with a checked baggage charge if my bag is too big.

Yes, your hairspray must be non-aerosol. There are lots of types in travel size pump bottles that you could take on the plane - and if you wanted, you could buy an aerosol variety once you arrive in Barcelona.

Tamara....Air France's weight restriction is 12 kg....that's 26 pounds. If your carry-on is more than 26 pounds, then you're taking too much.

Regarding aerosols....you might be able to take one but it has to be less than 3.4oz/100ml. You can try but it might be taken away from you.

thanks Steve. Per the Airfrance link you gave,
"The following are considered as liquids: gels, semi-solid materials, lotions and the contents of pressurized containers such as: toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfumes, shaving foam, aerosols and all other articles of similar consistency." and are under the the plastic bag rules for travel. But on the link for dangerous goods, it notes aerosols. So this is where I have confusion on the hairspray issue or even shaving foam. It notes you can have it, then on another area, notes you can't.

And the baggage allowance seems a bit low in weight for a 2 week trip. I have no issue with following the liquid rules, but with the weight and size rules, it seems you almost have to check a bag; it wasn't an issue when the airlines weren't charging for this, but they almost force you into checking a bag with their rules, then charge you for it.
