Carcassone to Collioure, France and coastine to Cadaques, Spain

Seeking information on dining in Carcassone and Colliure in early October. Will most places be shut down for the "season". Recommendations appreciated. Drive route suggestions from Carcassone to Colliure, anything worth a slight detour from the normal routes? Driving from Colliure to Cadaques along the coast, is it a "nail biter" or is this exacerated?

In my opinion, the old Cathar ruins at Peyrepertuse and/or Querebus are well worth the detour on the way to from Carcassonne.

Not the the altitude-phobic, though.
