Car seat for 1 year old travelling in Germany

Hello I have an American car seat for my 1 year old. I am travelling by plane from London Stansted to Salzburg and then train to Munich. The only snag is that 1) I am not sure if I should bring my American car seat, as it may not be regulation per the German laws 2) If you take a taxi will they have a car seat? or would you need to call in advance? if they provide this? 3) We will be taking a train to Munich, will you need a car seat for that? I wouldn't think so, but you never know.

1) Your car seat is legal in Germany if it bears an ECE R44/3 or R44/4 seal. Look at the labels, if there is an orange tag with "ECE" and "44/3" or "44/4" on it (well, and your child is in the indicated weight class) it's legal. 2) Yes, you'll have to call in advance to get a taxi with a car seat.
3) No.

At airports and big train stations, you will often be able to find a taxi with a car seat, and if you need a taxi going from your hotel to the airport, then just have the front desk clerk order a taxi that will have a car seat that will match the age and weight of your child. Will your child be sitting on your lap on the plane or have their own seat? Many kids are comfortable sitting in their car seat for long distances, as they can nap, and sitting in a car seat is certainly safer while flying.
