In May we are traveling to Normandy and staying in Bayeux. Would appreciate input on renting a car in Caen or Bayeux.

I've used Autoeurope.com many times to rent a car in both Caen and Bayeux. It is easier in Caen since the rental agencies are very close to train station. In Bayeux, you'd need to take a taxi to and from station. It's about a 30 min drive from Caen to Bayeux. viamichelin.com is very helpful for routes and distances.

You have choices at the Caen train station. There's a one-shot Charley at a gas station on the northwest periphery of Bayeux.

Ed: Thanks for the note. There are more options in Caen. I just checked out www.autoeurope.com and that looks like a posibility.
