A family of four adults is planning on renting a comfortable car in Nice for a week and want to know if any one could give us opinions or experiences regarding prices and what to expect when we acrually close the deal. Surprises ect. Thanks Bob Hand
Just curious: You say in Nice - Where are you going in Nice that you want to rent a car for a week?
We plan on day trips to Monaco and into Italy and north into the Alps
Try AutoEurope. You pay in dollars and avoid some of the European taxes.
Monaco as a day trip from Nice is faster, better and less hassle by train than rental car. Overnight parking of a rental car in European cities the size of Nice is usually a much bigger challenge than it is here. So you'll probably want to select a hotel in Nice that specifically offers overnight parking, many won't, and expect to pay extra for the overnight parking.
You won't want a car in Monaco unless you know the roads really well, and you can't drive up the rock unless you are local. Parking is free for the first 60 minutes in Monaco and most Beausoleil garages but more expensive after the 61st minute. Take the train and use the tunnels and escalators and lifts. Don't drive the roads the wrong way there are cameras and policemen (in great white uniforms and white helmets) everywhere.
To all who have taken time to offer your thoughts. We appreciate every one of them and plan to take them all into consideration. Merci Au revoir
