Hi...I am planning a trip in August and September. I am flying in and out of Nice. After landing in Nice I am planning to stay near Saint-Paul-de-Vence for a few days, then to near Eze for a few days, and then to stay in Nice for about a week. I have never rented a car or drove in Europe before. I am a little nervous about the process of renting a car and then driving in an area unfamiliar to me. I would like to give my rental car up when I arrive in Nice for my stay there. It would really help me out if anyone can give me some thoughts and advice. Do you recommend renting a car at the airport itself? How can I get drop the car off again at a location other than the airport? Do I need to make the rental arrangements before I make I land in Nice? Thank you so much===I really appreciate it.
Greg
All I can say is, for us, it was a nightmare finding the Europcar drop-off in Nice (however we did not have GPS at the time.) We actually had to go the wrong way on a one-way street to get to the place. It was nerve-wracking and maddening. Nice is a pretty big city with lots of congestion. Perhaps others here will tell you differently. I don't know, maybe it was just us. I would consider the airport drop-off point if we ever did it again.
Kathy is right about finding sone of the in town agencies. They are often a store front with a garage down the street or on a different street. Furthermore, Nice has many areas of narrow one-way streets. It easier dealing with the airport return. For renting, try autoeurope.com or Kemwel.
There's one more people recommend, but I forget the name.
