I need a recommendation for a car rental in Florence for a tour of Tuscany on our own. Jean
Can't recall with certainty, but it was either Avis or Hertz, I believe the former. Check their websites. Also, if you are a Costco member, check with them.
Hi Neighbor, Do you want a car for a day, or for an extended time? I use Auto Europe (www.autoeurope.com) for my European rentals. They are a consolidator based in Maine. Of the 4 times I have used them I have ended up with a different rental agency each time. I think in Italy it was either Hertz or Avis. You definitely want to arrange your car before you leave. Also, be sure you have obtained an International Drivers Permit at AAA before you go. It translates your CA drivers license and is required by law in Italy. We have a monthly travel meeting for the people who use this helpline on the 3rd Saturday of each month. The 'regulars' have all traveled to Europe multiple times and we would be happy to help you with any questions you have. Let me know if you would like more information regarding our meetings.
