Well, you guys are right.. We do need a car to see the DORDOGNE. It is a 15 hour bus trip from Sarlat TO ALBI and the drive is 2 1/2 hours. Is it better to rent the car in SARLAT or here and which company is the best. We will get the car insurance through our credit card company. THanks Suzy

With a car you can also consider some of your other destination ideas: Rocamador, St Cirq. Always reserve before you go. And consider, since you are getting a car anyway, if Sarlat is the best place to get it (even supposing you can do that). You might do better picking up your rental car at a train station (perhaps Angouleme), then driving from there to Sarlat.

For France car rentals we've always used either the brokers Kemwel or Auto Europe (both now under the same ownership). I'd recommend either, or Europe by Car.
