car rental

We are renting a car from Avis at the Charles De
Gaulle Airport and are wondering if they have shuttles to take you to the rental agencies or if you take a taxi? Also, how much insurance is necessary ---would it be just liability and collision or do you think we need more?

Thank you for any help you can give us. Corinne

The rental agencies all have offices located by each terminal. Just follow the signs.

Corinne, check with your insurance company. We found out that our's was worthless in Europe.

Then see what Avis is providing. Check their web site, and call on the phone and chat with them.

For us "Liability" ;(bodily injury and property damage)were covered by the Auto Europe auto rental policy.

We waived the rental agencies "Collision Damage" coverage. Now we were respsonsible for theft or any damage to the car. But CDW is is covered by our VISA, and I verified that.(and make sure that that there is no high deductable!) We also bought a trip insurance policy, and it had CDW.(Insuremytrip.com, Squaremouth.com)

Check your quote against an AutoEurope quote. They have a fantastic office in Maine that will talk to you and answer any question. They are a broker, and will match any rate quote that you get. We have always used them for our trips in Europe.

Also make sure that you rent a GPS with your car (sometimnes free at AE) or buy one here, learn how to use it, and take it. Our TOMTOM Go 920 has been our best vacation "provider", and a wonderfull asset for our marriage!
