Canadian passport holders traveling to France

I will be traveling to France with a Canadian friend who has an American green card. We have talked to the Canadian Embassy and gotten conflicting answers. So, does anyone know if my friend needs a Visa to travel to France or is her passport and green card sufficient? We will only be there for 10 days.

As a Canadian with a valid, up-to-date Canadian passport, the Green Card has nothing to do with her ability to enter France. It would probably just confuse Passport Control in Paris to even mention it.

Canadains with valid Canadian passports do not need a Visa to visit France( western Europe in general),, and like Norma said I wouldn't even bring up the green card,, but I would bring it,, likely makes reentry into America easier.

Not an expert,, just know a Canadian Passport gets you into France,Austria, Germany, Italy, UK from personal experience.

Your friend with a greencard will defintitely need a Schengen Visa to travel to France. Also note please check the French embassy website for getting an appointment dates because they fill up fast and can be a problem if your travels dates are close. Dont book any flights or hotels before settling on the appointment dates.

Does your friend have a Canadian passport- then in that case he would not need to get a Schengen visa.

As the others have said, your friend will only require a valid Canadian Passport for entry into France. Be sure to check the expiry date as some countries may refuse entry if there's less than six months remaining before expiry.

Again as mentioned previously, don't even mention the "Green Card". That's only of concern to U.S. officials, and means nothing to French officials. As Steve indicated, make sure she has it with her on return to the U.S. though.

Happy travels!
