Two of us would like to hike from Murren to Grindelwald, have a train take our small amount of luggage around to Grindelwald, so we can hike with day packs. Can we do that? How would things be stored at Grindelwald? Is it a good idea, or are there any significant risks?
Thanks!!
Short answer is yes, you can do that, but you have to check the SBB website tom see if those two stations are among the ones that offer this service.
Both Murren and Grindlewald are part of Swiss Rail's "Fast Baggage" service. Meaning that if you drop your bag off at the Murren train station before 9am you can pick it up at Grindelwald after 6pm. Swiss Rail sends all baggage to one central location, so you won't get it any sooner than that even though both places are near each other. It's also expensive, 22CHF per item. Lola, Michael. Thank you again. I will check it out and figure it out from your advice and information. Thanks, also, for the consistently good responses you both provide on this website. Truly a treasure to travel novices and veterans alike.
