Can we visit Versailles in 5 days in Paris? First time visitors.

We are travelling with baby and want to explore Paris and visit all the touristy places since its our first time. Given that, can we still visit Versailles?

Certainly. Make a list of your priorities and if this is high, make sure you fit it in. We had 3.5 days and made it to Versailles.

Hello Sonia - We had 7 days in Paris and wished we had more time....

Versailles can take a whole day - so depending on what else you want to see and do - I would leave it for your next visit to Paris!

You know you will return. :)

Sonia,

I'll bet you don't want to visit "all" the touristy places, just the ones that interest you. And maybe some less-touristed places that interest you, too.

So, make a list of all the things you'd like to try to see. Put them roughly in order. See how they might fit together to form complete days, taking into account all the logistical issues of traveling as a family.

If Versailles makes the cut, then go.

We had time to visit Versailles. We allotted a full day for Versailles. After visiting the palace, we strolled all around had a picnic and rest on the vast lawn leading from the water.

Wonderful day!

Echoing others to say that Versailles is a whole day trip. Don't skip the gardens or Marie Antoinette's house in order to rush back to Paris (as I sometimes see people planning here). See it all and you'll be back in the city by late afternoon with still time to relax before dinner. Unless of course you just want to say you saw the palace and don't really care if you miss some good parts!

I had 4 days in Paris (my first time) last summer and allotted our last full day to Versailles. To be honest, (though it was a nice, warm, day) I found the gardens and Marie Antoinette's house to be much more interesting than the palace itself. Perhaps it was the shuffle from room to room everyone with their respective audio tours that seemed tedious. It's definitely worth going, though. The town around the palace is cute, and the train ride out is short. Pack PLENTY of water!
