Is Dijon worth seeing?
If so what do you like?
I just wonder if it can be done as a day trip from Paris?
Thanks
Worth seeing if you happen to be in the area, and probably possible to BRIEFLY visit as a daytrip from Paris... but not worthwhile unless you have a little more time. The main attraction is the Duccal Palace, although just wandering the medieval street plan is fascinating in and of itself.
About 3 hours to drive, one way, no stops, depending on where in Paris you start and how quickly you get out of the city. Guesstimate that a round trip by car, with a pit stop or two, is 7 hours travel time.By train: Quicker, about 1 hr 40 mins station to station, one way; add for time to get to the train station, wait for the train, get back to your hotel at end of day, etc.
Dijon could be worth a day or two and I think it's a totally doable day trip from Paris if you've got the energy for it. The different places are amazing and I love the architecture. Lots of people of course go to Burgundy for wine tasting, so if that's your thing, you may consider going to Beaune (20 mins further down the track) instead.
Bon voyage!
I went to Dijon from Paris in March and it is doable. The train trip is about an hour and a half and you can walk to the center of town easily. The thing to keep in mind is what day you go so the museums are open and the market is being held. That was really interesting and fun but I went on a Tuesday and the museums were closed which made the day kind of long. I could not return to Paris on another earlier train without paying a huge difference in price! If you have the time, it's OK, if you are pressed, find things to do in Paris and save your train fare.
