Can anyone recommend a hotel in Paris?

I'm traveling to Paris with my son in June 2011. This time I was hoping to stay closer to the heart of the action. Can anyone recommend a good hotel close to the Latin Quarter?

You did not mention your budget............. The Hotel Lutetia in Saint Germain is wonderful. Metro station directly across the street and close to everything for walking.

I was hoping for a mid-range price hotel.

http://www.paris-hotel-pacific.com/ Decent budget hotel in the 15eme. There is a school across the street, so maybe not the best if you want to sleep in during the week! But its clean, affordable and the breakfast was fantastic.

Hotel Cluny Sorbonne. It's several blocks from the Seine and reasonably priced. I stayed there a year ago and also in 2005, and would stay again if I had any plans to go to Paris. Helpful staff. clean rooms and right across the street from the Sorbonne. A few blocks from Luxembourg Gardens and Pantheon also.

I have stayed at Hotel du Lion in the 14th on L'avenue General Leclerc, metro Denfert Rochereau. It is a 2 star hotel.

We found several good recommendations on tripadvisor.com. You might want to check that site for recommendations as well.

Just returned 10/4 after staying four days at Hotel de al Motte Piquet, 30 avenue de la Motte Piquet, 75007 Paris. This hotel is in the Rue Cler neighborhood and recommended in Rick's Paris 2010 book. While not "in" the Latin Quarter, any neighborhood is nearby via Metro. A Metro entrance/exit is a half block away. We have stayed in many of the hotels Rick recommends and this one is a gem. There is something very comforting about stepping into the lobby from the excitement and confusion of busy Paris with its language differences to find an English-speaking French person whose job it is to help you! The concierge there, "Mo", even helped me sort out the Internet on a keyboard with French grammar markings and with its keys in different locations! Now that's service! Great buffet breakfast for 12 Euros, too. One day we opted for croissants, coffee and OJ at a brasserie on Rue Cler that cost 26 Euros for two people, so figured the 24 Euro (for two) hotel breakfast was a pretty good value. Trust Rick!

Do you have Rick Steves Paris Guide Book yet? If not, better get one as it is full of very useful information. It contains recommendations of places to stay in different parts of Paris and we have used it several times to find places to stay and have never been disappointed.

I really liked HOTEL DACIA LUXEMBOURG at 41 Boulevard Saint Michel, next to the Sorbonne and the Luxembourg Garden. Very easy to walk to Notre Dame, plenty of reasonably priced restaurants, and convenient connections on the Metro. St Germain was nearby for windowshopping. An transportation advantage is the RER goes directly from CDG to a block from the hotel. Very cozy breakfast room, elevator,coffee/tea in room, A/C, and nice staff.
