Has anyone has experience with either of the camping references in Rick's Switzerland guide for Luterbrunnen (Mountain Holiday Park-Camping Jungfrau or Schutenbach Retreat)? Looking at this as a viable alternative to expensive hotel. Thanks!
All I can say is that I've seen the campground (if memory serves me correct, it sits pretty close to the cable car station). Very scenic, but it looked like it can get a little flooded during a rain storm.
For those of you who are interested in this option the Camping Jungfrau campground begins booking for next year in November, 2009. Blankets and pillows are supplied but you have to provide your own linens and towels. This option won't work for us as we are traveling "on the fly" and won't have space in our carry-on luggage for those things. But it was a good thought...
Bring travel towels and buy the sheets in Europe?
We just spent a week tent camping at Camping Jungfrau. Great location, staff in our opinion was efficient but disinterested. We paid 40 francs a night for our tent/car/electricity. Bathrooms very clean. There is a restaurant that has good food and also a mini market. There are also break rooms with tv sets.
Don't know much about the lodging structures if you want to call them that. There did seem to be a Contiki group there every night (depending on if that is your sort of thing.
