Hi, my brothers and I are going to switzerland and italy at the end of july, and we are looking for some good campgrounds. Firstly, we are looking for one in grindelwald that is easy to access from the train station and also easy to be able to leave and go hiking.
Thanks for the help
There are at least two campgrounds in Grindelwald. One, the Eigernordwand, is near the Grindelwald Grund train station, at the base of the Eiger. http://www.eigernordwand.ch/index.php?userlang=en The other, Camping Gletscherdorf, is near the river below the main part of town: http://www.gletscherdorf.ch/ausgabe_e/index_e.html Take a look at the websites and photos and see which you prefer. If I recall correctly, either one would be about a 15 minute walk from the trains station, but you could confirm that with Google maps. Either one would provide good access to great hiking trails, which head every direction from the town itself. Some are best reached by train or lift to get you to the trailhead. There is also a nice campground in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, the next valley over. If you have time it would be nice to spend a few days thee too. http://www.camping-jungfrau.ch/default.asp
awesome ur the best
as long as we're at it, does anyone know anywhere good to camp (with easy access to the nearest train station) near the matterhorn, lake como, or the cinque terra (the last close enough so that we can camp overnight, pack up, and leave in the morning)? Thanks,
Avraham
for Zermatt: Camping Matterhorn http://campingzermatt.ipeak.ch/de/matterhorn.html For Cinque Terre, as far as I know there are no campgrouds in the five villages. Your closest option, and a good one, is Camping AcquaDolce in nearby Levanto, right on the train line for easy access: http://www.campingacquadolce.com/
