Julie, I did the Camino 2 years ago, I started in St Jean on May 22 and arrived in Santiago on June 23, 33 days of walking. It's a simple life of sleeping, walking for 7 to 8 hours a day, eating, and getting up and doing it again the next day and many days after that. The beauty of it is you can leave your everyday troubles at home and focus only on what you're doing that day and the time you're on the Camino. You'll meet many interesting people, some you'll make life long friends with and some to be honest will drive you crazy. The best part of the day is the afternoon and evening when the friends you make spend time just relaxing and planning the next days walk. Many people travel to the Camino by themselves, but the one thing about the Camino is you never have to be alone unless you want to be, you'll develop a Camino family, a group that travels about the same speed as you, stays in the same alburgues, dines together, walks together, looks after each other and if you or them don't want to walk together no one takes it personally, everyone is there for their own reason. The people you meet you might see everyday but then there are times you might not see them for 2, 3 or 4, but that's OK. I have a list of websites I'll send you in a PM, I also have a blog I kept you can read and a packing list I can send to you, if you have any specific questions regarding the Camino, travel to and from or just what it is like feel free to contact me.
