I will be traveling to Spain next month. My camera, a Canon SD900, uses a plug-in battery charger. Does anyone have experience w/this situation if I use an European adapter for charging? Or what are my alternatives?
Thank you,
Donna
Donna,
As long as you have an adapter you should be fine. Most plug in charges now automatically convert the voltage so you should not need a converter. You can check on your charger and it should be ok from 100-240v. It is possible there is a little switch on your charger to change but as mentioned most of the newer ones do it automatically. Our Nikon plug-in charger worked fine just using the adapter. Also, our video camera was the same. The older electrical plug-ins needed a converter but most all of the new ones have the converter built in. Same with most of the hair dryers I believe.
Donna,
See my reply in the other section you posted this message.
Donna - you will be fine with your SD900 wall-charger - as long as you get the small plug adapter ($5-$7). The "converter" is built into the factory-provided charger that comes with your cam - its says 110-220V on the back. I just got back (and am going again) and had my SD1000. Take an extra one of those small plug adapters if you get a good price (radio shack, travel store, bestbuy etc). just incase you leave if by mistake. Also good to have a spare to share if youre going with anyone else- or if you have any other device (Ipod/phone etc) to charge.
