Calais to Dover by English Channel

We are planning on leaving Arras for Calais by train or bus, then take a ferry to Dover and get a taxi or walk to our B and B. Must I make reservations or can I just buy my tickets for the ferry and bus or train beforehand? Has anyone done this taken the ferry across recently who could answer about the ferry?

It's impossible to fill the ferry with foot pax.

Thank-you! What about getting there from Arras?

Hi, Depending on the departure you take, you can go from Arras-Calais (direct) on a regional train. These "ter" trains don't take reservations. Just get a ticket at the Arras station ticket office. It's to your left as you enter the station.

I understand that not all the ferry companies will accept foot passengers. It might be worth checking the different companies using Google to make sure that you have properly planned your journey. The majority of ferry users have their own cars or are driving commercial vehicles.
