Has anyone been on the Caen museum sponsored bus tour? How is it? So far, I've only found so-so reviews - I'm hoping for some more positive opinions! Also, there are two tours each day - one leaving in the AM (cheaper) and one in the PM (more expensive). Does anyone know why the price difference?
I do know the Battlebus tours are highly recommended. But logistically, I don't think it will work - we want to be able to do the both the museum and bus tour in the same day.

To put this in context:
Day One: Arriving from CDG to Caen, totally jet-lagged =), hopefully by 8 PM.
Day Two: A day to do either the Caen museum plus tour or Battlebus Tour only. Whichever we pick, we'd like to see Ouistreham because we'll not see it otherwise.
Day Three: Rent bikes and tour Arromanches and nearby sites. Night in Bayeux.
Day Four: Bike from Bayeux to St. Mere Eglise, seeing beaches and memorials along the way. Spend night in SME.
So, in other words we need to choose between museum and tour (Caen) or Battlebus Tour only (Bayeux). We are open to being talked out of the Caen museum if need be. I just want my boyfriend, the history buff, to have a great experience. I thought a tour in addition to the biking would be great to get an overview first. That way, if we run out of time on the bikes, we won't feel like we've missed anything.
I think I would do the Battlebus tour. It does cover quite a bit and your boyfriend will enjoy it tremendously. The museum in Bayeux itself is very good, so not sure how it compares with Caen. I certainly think the small, personalized Battlebus tour is going to be way better than the big bus tour from Caen.
Look over what is offered on the tour to see if it covers some of the places you were planning on visiting anyway.
