Cadiz is not included in Rick Steves' Sevilla, Granada & Southern Spain book. Not sure why not. Is it worth a visit if we'll be there in November or does it make more sense the spend the time elsewhere (i.e., Nerja)? Thanks.
Cadiz is phantastic IMO! It's an old, castle-like town covering an entire peninsular. You'll see great mediterranean life on the city beaches and find charming narrow streets and allies. To me the highlight was the Camera Obscura - not just because it's all based on medieval "technologies" but simply because it's one of the most stunning things I've ever experienced. Cadiz makes for a great half-day or day trip from Jerez de la Frontera, another gem along that coast - the most Arab town in Europe! There are ferry boats between Jerez and Cadiz.
When my husband and I were there before we were married we loved it! We bought some homemade breads and some other yummy things and sat on the beach. Some of my favorite memories are in Cadiz!
Thanks for asking this question, and for the answers. Cadiz looks and sounds great from most sources and we are planning to include it in our trip this fall. But whay no mention at all in RS Guide?
Thank you everyone. I think we're going to try to include Cadiz in our travels, at least for a day trip.
