Cadeques / Figueres

We have 5 nights in Barcelona at the end of our October trip; then to Madrid for one last night and fly out in the morning. Figueres and Cadeques in particular, look wonderful. Dali and Quaint(?) port; what could be better?

Starting and ending in Barcelona, does staying in Cadeques one night only work well? What travel method is best, bus or train? Is it worth renting a car for just the two days (i.e. one night)? Our schedule means we can leave Barcelon early on day One but by the end of Day 2 we have to be in Madrid.

If we do a night in Cadeques, any hotel recommendations or experience? We're trying to keep hotel budgets in the 70-75 Euro ($100.) range.

My preference was to stay in Barcelona the whole time, and take a train to visit those towns. The train rides were short enough to spend the whole day in the town exploring the Dali museum, eating out, and enjoying the serenity of the town.

I chose to stay in Barcelona the whole time and use it as a base station for my trips.

Whatever you decide, you will love it. There is a good tea house in the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona. It is just around the corner from the cathedral in a quiet courtyard. Caj Chai (pronounced Chai Chai).

Safe Travels.
