Cadaques Waterfront

I just saw a review of Hotel Octavia in Cadaques that said the whole waterfront boardwalk was undergoing a major rebuild and was a mess.

Does anyone know about this? Or likely status in October?

Hotels in Cadaques with decent reviews seem few and far between. We want to be near town center and the water. Has anyone stayed at the Octavia or have positive things to say about alternatives?

And while on the Cadaques topic: If we have 5 nights in the Barcelona area, do two nights in Cadaques make sense? We will have just finished fourteen days of touring throughout Madrid, Seville and Andalusia so a couple of relaxed final nights in a coastal town sounded to us like a nice way to end the trip.

Thanks!

Phil, I don't know anything about the waterfront changes, but in October it is relatively quiet in Cadaques. Visited last Fall(2009). A great small hotel (B&B) is Hotel Blaumer www.hotelblaumer.com, where we stayed. Very clean, helpful, good breakfast, highly rec. The Dali House in Portlligat is definitely worth a visit. Advance reservations can be made online and are suggested. The waterfront can be done in one full day and an overnight stay to see the Dali House. http://www.salvador-dali.org/museus/portlligat/en_index.html
