Buying a Paris Museum Pass at a FNAC Store

I'm thinking of buying Paris Museum Passes at the FNAC store at St. Lazare. Is there a particular place in the store where the passes are sold? Anything else I should know, such as do they add on a service charge?

You need to go upstairs to the Billetterie. It's in a back corner. I'm pretty sure there is a service charge -- there is one for the individual museum tickets, which are the only ones I've bought, and I presume that would be the same for the pass. It's something like 1 or 2 euros. For me, it's a "convenience fee" that I'm happy to pay to avoid the lines at the museums.

If you're worried about queues at the biggest museums, you can avoid both queues and service charges by buying the pass at one of the smaller museums in the scheme.

I agree with buying the pass at some of the less popular sites. We bought the pass at Napoleon's Tomb. No line at all and this was in July.

Scott , please allow me to add a comment about the pass. Stephen ( last poster ) makes a good point about buying the pass at the tomb ( Hotel des Invalides ) We did exactly that and actually purchased a two day pass and separate admission for Les Invalides . My logic works this way : you can buy 2 , 4 , or 6 day passes . the clock starts upon activation at your first sight . If you are realistic about how many sights you can " do " in a day ( my number is two , maybe three in some instances , you will find that you don't save money as much as you skip lines. But depending how long you are in Paris , if you buy longer passes it locks you into seeing those sights in that time frame , which can be a drag if the weather on those days is more appropriate for "Flanerie ", or strolling through the city . Apart from museums with high density visitors ( Louvre , Versailles , Orsay ) getting in isn't a problem . By using the 2 day pass for Versailles ( took the whole day to really see it ) and Louvre and St Chappelle the next day , I could more effectively allot my time based on my mood and more importantly , the weather . Of course there are many ways to structure this . Paris is wonderful Enjoy it !!
