Perhaps someone can help. I thought I had everything worked out to take the train, but there is no morning TGV on the date I need it - only afternoons. I would much prefer to arrive Avignon early to mid afternoon, instead of early evening. Does anyone know about taking a bus from Nice to Avignon? I found one website & it looks like there's only one per day @ 7:45am leaving from Nice airport. Does anyone know if there are more & if they all leave from the airport. Thanks very much!
Gail, are you by any chance using raileurope.com which only gives a few choices of trains? I used the Deutschbahn site
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
and found TGV every morning of the week from Nice Ville.
I'm hoping Martine will see this to give you the accurate site for purchasing on line if you want your tickets 90 days in advance. I personally would just purchase them the day before or the day of travel depending on what day of the week you need. I take it you're buying P2P tickets rather than using a railpass?
Hope this helps.

I agree with the other two posts. There are probably more trains--use a different website (I like tgv-europe.com, but choose another country [like Spain, not the USA or France]). Another poster told me earlier this year that there is a train monopoly in France, so there aren't many inter-city buses. I took the train from Nice to Avignon and from Avignon to Nice just a little over a week ago; it was easy. Good luck!
Thank you to all three of you! Great help! I did go to the Dutch site & see that there are plenty of trains in the morning, but just not on sale yet. So I will keep monitoring the site for when they go on sale. I think the tickets only go on sale 90 days before departure & I'm a little ahead of that. Much appreciated!
