Bus Tour of Berlin??

We'll be in Berlin the end of March. We've rented a car to travel around Germany but would like to NOT use the car as we tour Berlin.

Is there a tour company that you recommend for a day trip around Berlin? We don't want to spend the entire tour on the bus but hopefully, be able to get out and walk around too.

Hi Alexandra,

The city buses (and other means of public transportation) in Berlin are fantastic--you could use Rick Steves' (and/or other) guidebook(s) and take public transportation to see the major sites.

Thanks for the quick reply. We've considered taking the city bus and that's still one of our options. Several years ago I did a bus tour as part of a high school trip and really enjoyed it. We got to see quite a bit of Berlin.

You can just ride around on Bus #100 and get to see a lot of sights, but the bus doesn't offer commentary. The very best way to see Berlin is with a walking tour.

There are several companies that offer 4 hour walking tours for 12 euro p.p. Once you go on one and see how great they are, you will be hooked and want to go on more. They offer several different ones, a general Berlin tour, 3rd Reich, Cold War, some may offer a Jewish experience or Berlin underground, or side trips to Potsdam or Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. Some get excellent reviews over on Trip Advisor, others not so good of reviews. Insider Tours, Original Berlin Walks, Fat Tire Bike Tours and if you want something more exciting a Segway tour, but that will cost you. The best part is being able to ask the guide all the questions you want, and get great tips for other places to go that meet your interest. Restaurants, events, museums, and so on.

Have fun, Berlin is great!

There are Segway tours around Berlin if you want something a little different. A web search will give you many different bus, walking, or bikeing tours that are avalible as well as the guided segway tour. Of course Rick's book has suggestions on public buses and so on.
