We will be arriving by air to Nice, France. We plan to then go by bus to Villefranche sur Mer. I've read the 2013 Provence book and know to take the 98 bus from the airport to Nice city center and then to take the 81 or 100 to VFSM and where to get off there. BUT I have been unable to figure out where to get off the 98 to catch either the 81 or the 100. I understand that the old bus station no longer exists and the new bus station is under construction. Does anyone know what stop(s) I should look for? I'm anticipating being a little disoriented after our trans-Atlantic flight so I'm trying to sort this all out ahead of time. I woke up from a dream last night in which I was trying - in French - to ask this so I thought I'd best start here first.
Have you looked at trains option? I found it to be super cheap to travel by train from Nice...and I was there last summer. I took one day trip to Monaco which was a good decision!! I think we passed VFM while on the train... Good luck! You can always just ask at the airport...bus route may change to.
Don't stress....enjoy beautiful south of France!
M.E., This is likely the Coach station you're looking for: http://nicefrance.ca/transportation/coachstation.html As I recall, I took the #100 Bus last time, which went past Villefranche sur Mer. The fare was €1 per person (a bargain!) Travel by train is also an option, but will likely be more expensive. Given your location, you could stop by ETBD and Rick's expert staff should be able to provide detailed directions. Happy travels!
