Bus from Sorrento to Rome

We took the Currier (sp?) bus last year going from Rome to Sorrento (the reverse of what you're asking about) and it was great. The bus- a very nice and modern coach- wasn't full, they stopped once for a bathroom break, did just a couple of random stops before reaching Sorrento. We too wanted to avoid the Naples station, and could not have been happier with the whole experience. Very easy and comfortable!

I haven't taken either so I can't comment but just be aware there are two different companies: http://www.marozzivt.it/ (this is the one mentioned in rick's book with 2/day) http://www.curreriviaggi.it/ (the one favorably mentioned here) this one leaves Sorrento at 6:30 and seems to be slightly less expensive. either way, they are way less than the train. i was planning on taking the train from Rome to Sorrento in May but for the convenience of not having to change trains plus the price savings, it seems like it may well be worth having to go out to Tiburtina early in the morning! Thanks for the heads up on this!

The Marozzi bus is quite nice but limited to 2 runs per day from Sorrento to Rome-Tiburtina. The bus stop at Rome-Tiburtina is at the Tiburtina train station, Rome's 2nd largest. To get to Rome Termini should you need to do so, go down to the metro and take the Line B. Termini is 4 stops away.

We are looking to go from Sorrento to Rome on the afternoon/evening train - Rick said 5:00 p.m. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, on the marozzi website you can put in your date and get the timetable. It leaves Sorrento at 5pm. Curreri seems to only have one per day leaving at 6:30am
