My husband and I are looking for a wine tour that leaves from Beaune and goes to Puligny-Montrachet (and others hopefully!). Any recommendations on a great tour? Thanks.
Instead of a tour, I strongly suggest that you pick a few wine producers in the villages you're interested in, then contact them by email. Explain how much you love wines from Burgundy and that you'd be grateful if you could visit. Give them the dates you'll be there and ask what would be most convenient for them. Part of the fun of visiting a wine region is the serendipitous discovery of producers and their wines. Even just strolling around the streets. There are many good books you can scout out in bookstores (and read while sitting there sipping coffee) that will give you good leads on producers to visit. Something else to keep in mind is that the main portion of Burgundy, the Cote d'Or, runs north to south and takes only about 40 minutes to drive completely. Roughly speaking, the northern half is the Cote de Nuits and southern half is the Cote de Beaune. Great wines abound in both, but it's fun to taste how different soil and conditions can influence the wines from one area to another. Visiting wine producers is a lot of fun and not difficult to do.
