We just returned from 17 days in Germany and visited Burg Eltz - among many other wonderful things. Just an FYI for anyone planning a trip to Burg Eltz - it is going through repairs at this time and this includes scaffolding on one section of the outside and 2 -3 rooms of the tour.
I definitely think it was still worth the trip - but thought I would pass it on. The guide said the repairs will take about two years but that the tours will continue throughout the process.
