My husband and I are going to Eurobike in Friedrichshafen Germany in late August. I am looking for suggestions of best things to see/do the 4 days before (sat-tues) and then one day after... unless we hit the lottery & can extend our trip another week! I'm dying to show my husband Paris, then explore new places together. Suggestions? Many thanks!

Heidi, I came across your thread and thought I'd give it another chance for responses. I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. Are you looking only for suggestions for the German part of your trip? Are you even going to Paris this trip, or will that have to wait for your lottery win? ;-) If you're going to Paris, are you looking for advice there, too?

Now it looks like we will fly to Paris- stay 2-3 nights (and take day trains to see his bike dealers outside paris, la flech to the southwest and geurrand to the west) then train to London- again to see bike dealers. Then should we train to Paris then Zurich or fly London to Zurich or ??? Zurich is the closest big city to Friedrichsahfen Germany, where we need to land by Aug 28 for 3 nights. I will likely accompany him to tradeshow at least one day but then I hope to find amusement while he is at tradeshow last 2 days. Then we anticipate flying out of Zurich back to the states. So- that is perhaps the bones of the trip but I need help figuring it all out and love/appreciate any and all suggestions!!

If you are going to be in London just before the trade show you should fly from there to Zurich or whatever airport works best for you. It doesn't make sense to take the train from London to Paris and then immediately fly somewhere else.

Definitely fly London to Zürich. it will be cheaper and much faster than train. So will you have any time after the trade show? You could explore Switzerland a bit before heading to zurich for your flight. but we'd need to know how much time you have before making suggestions. Or are you simply looking for things to see and do on your own those two days of teh tradeshow? Lake Constance/Bodensee offers lots right in the area; see Je's suggestions.

thanks all for the continued suggestions. i will look at flights from london->zurich. glad to know your advice. i think we might have just the three days in friedrichshafen. still trying to find accomodations closeby as the tradeshow books out much of the surrounding area. do you have any suggestions about a 2 day stay in /around london? highlights in that time frame?
