Anyone have recommendations for budget lodging in Paris? Female, 59 and traveling solo, I'm open to anything that is safe, clean and convenient. Thanks so much!
The Hotel de Nevers on Rue de Malte near Place Republique is very basic, but clean and safe. Close to a number of Metro stations connecting you to everywhere in Paris. This is about as budget as you'd want to do.
When are you traveling, the time of year will impact hotel lodging? What is your budget?
Brenda, Another tip, go to venere.com and check out hotels in Paris, it is a good website for searching out hotel lodging. We use them all the time and find the postings to be accurate.
Try Hotel Lyon-Mulhouse on the eastern edge of the Marais near the Bastille. I had a single in September for a great price. Very nice breakfast and you're very close to Place des Vosges & other great Marais sites. Also try Hotel Jeanne d'Arc (if you're lucky enough to get a reservation).
http://www.my-paris-hotel.com/en/s03_hotels/s03p01_accueilhotel.php?hotel=33 I stayed here back in 2009. I loved it. Very quaint. Horrible name, great service and hotel. Very small and European, but the price was right!
Hi Brenda. If you don't mind a modern chain hotel, try the Ibis or Etap chains. The are not quaint, but are very clean and reliable.
Suggestion: This question has been asked several times in the last few weeks. Perhaps you could scroll through the recent questions on Paris hotels and review the answers. Bobbie
Hotels aren't your only option. Try a vacation rental. You can find a studio fairly cheaply. Two of us went to Paris in 2005 for a week and stayed in a studio that we found on this website: http://www.kudeta-home.com/ We got the website from a book called Great Sleeps - Paris (not an RS book, but good nonetheless). The actual studio we stayed in isn't listed anymore because the owner sold it. and FYI: I'm not affliated w/Kudeta Homes other than being a happy prior customer. Vacation rentals have the advantage of providing a kitchen area where you can store food or leftovers and easily make a quick snack or meal. I really wanted to do it bec I wanted to simply feel as if I was living in, not just visiting, Paris. Joan
PS: Another advantage - it had a washer/dryer.
All in one unit. very cool.
Brenda - Check out the Hotel de l'Avre.
