Apart from the Comic Strip Center, is there any place else in Brussels where I can get a Tintin fix (even a brief one)? The CSC seems a tad expensive for someone like me who would only be familiar with one comic and who only reads French on a very basic level.
There was a great Tin Tin store in Brugge when we were there so I thought there might be one in Brussels.. I googled and they show one at this address:
Rue de la Colline 13 1000, Brussels, Belgium
I haven' visited, but there's a Hergé museum in Louvain-la-Neuve outside of Brussels: http://www.museeherge.com/en The Belgian Comic Arts museum only has one small area devoted to Tintin, so if you're not familar with other Belgian comic characters, it might not be worth your time.
The flea market at Place du Jeu de Balle is where Tintin first found the "Unicorn" model.
Oo, a shop sounds like just the thing. Tintin and retail therapy in one go! I think the Herge museum will have to wait for another time. I'll only have 4-5 hours of free time in Brussels and, of course, want to spend some time in and around the Grand Place exploring all the chocolate options. ;)
You don't have to pay for the Comic Strip Center to visit the gift shop. They have a HUGE collection of Tintin books, T-shirts, souvenirs, etc. I passed the Tintin shop in Brussels last fall and found that the CSC has a much more extensive collection.
There's an official TinTin-store in a street between the Big Markedplace and trainstation Midi (of station Central) in Brussels. just 10 meter away from the marketplace.
