Brussels and Berges from Paris, how many days?

I was going to take a morning train to Brussels form Paris and stay 2 days in Brussels and 1 night and day in Berges.
Is that seem too short?
I want to head back to Bayeux maybe rent a car once I get over the Belguim border, so Ican see Vimy Ridge(Canadian War site) and drop the car off at Bayeux. Is that make sense?

I would take trains after that to Provance.

I assume you mean "Bruges"? You can get a decent sense of the city in one day and night, but two nights would be better.

Now, as to the rest of your plan, I'm a bit confused, but correct me if I'm wrong. You want to leave from Bruges, pick up a car somewhere in France, visit Arras, then drive to Bayeaux? If this is your plan, and if you don't mind paying a little bit more for your rental car, it might be much easier to pick up the car near Bruges, and drive the relatively short distance from there to Arras. Looking at the rail maps, it looks like you'd have to exchange trains several times.

If you do what Tom suggests and pick up a car in Belgium and drop it off in France, you will likely have to pay a high drop off fee. I suggest that you take the train from Bruges to Lille and pick up a car there. Since you'll be picking it up and dropping it off in the same country, there should be no extra charges.

You can see the main area in Brussels in 1/2 a day. Bruges is so lovely, I'd spend three nights there and just visit Brussels on the way.

Depends on the rental car company. I've been charged as high as 200 euros with Avis to as low as 15 with Sixt. The fee seems to be reasonably independent of geographic distance as well, at least within western Europe.

I agree with the previous poster. At the most, I would stay 1 night in Brussels--mainly because of travel and sightseeing time. Brugge is a small, quaint town that has so much to see and do. It's an absolute delight. Brussels is a large city. In reference to rental cars, I have always rented through AutoEurope and have been told it's quite a hefty drop off charge for drop off in a different country than originally rented in. Have you driven in Europe before? Have fun in Brugge!
