The Graffiti Wall entries on this site, although numerous, are not more recent than 2005.
Have any of you stayed at B&B in Bruges in past year or two? or are hotels just as good, if staying in center of historic part of city?
What do you suggest in general for a few days in Bruges.
Thanks so much!
The distinction between "B&B" and "hotel" in Europe is often arbitrary. I would even go out on a limb and say that most of the "hotels" in Bruges would be called a Bed and Breakfast in North America. I stayed at Hotel Adornes, which was very cozy, and offers free, unlimited use of the hotel's bicycles.
What to do? Explore, explore, and drink beer.
I stayed in this B&B over the Easter holiday (http://www.bedandbreakfastbruges.com/). It was wonderful and in a good location. The price was reasonable and the breakfast was good by Dutch/Belgian standards. The hosts were very nice and accommadating.
Hi Rick, I've been doing quite a bit of research on B&Bs to stay in Bruges, I found 2 that looked very good, based on photos, guest reviews, and reasonable price. 1669 seemed really different, used to be a cathedral and had an interesting gothic look to it, and also B&B Double Door, got great reviews and inexpensive, looked great in the photos.
I booked both on booking.com until I could converse with my travel partner (no fees to cancel). The problem is we ended up changing our itinerary a bit and now only staying one night in Bruges. Most of the B&Bs there required a minimum 2 night stay, so we had to cancel. Now looking into hotels, wasn't my first choice since I like the quaintness and personal attention in a B&B, but again judging from photos and reviews there seem to be plenty of hotels that have the same look and hopefully the same feel.
Hope that helped!
I stayed at Hotel ter Duinen recently. Check the reviews on tripadvisor. I posted one there.
Hi Rick in exile,
I don't understand your point re 2005. Have you looked under 'Heroic B&B Friendliness'? There are many entries including several recent ones for Bruges.
For additional feedback, check the ones you find listed against the comments on www.tripadvisor.com
I stayed at the same place as Laura from Delf.It was a very nice place.
I stayed last summer in the Royal Stewart B&B and loved it! Very convenient, easy walk to the Markt, lovely little garden to sit in, and a wonderful small homemade chocolate shop with excellent prices just down the street! Maggie is a wonderful and friendly host, who sent me to some excellent restaurants and helped me with whatever I needed. (I also enjoyed visiting with her two cute Yorkies!)
Her husband has a fascinating hobby of restoring a fascinating vintage car which he will show off! I highly recommend it.
