Brighton Hotel or Hotel Lutece?

Do you recommend Brighton Hotel or Hotel Lutece for a 2- night splurge for two in Paris?

I've stayed at Hotel de Lutece and liked it very much. I haven't stayed at Brighton Hotel but it looks nice as well. What I can compare though is the neighborhood. Hotel de Lutece is on Ile Saint Louis, the little island east of the bigger island where Notre Dame is, and I like that neighborhood much better. The island is like a small village surrounded by the river, it's charming and has beautiful views. I don't care for the rue de Rivoli where Brighton Hotel is, it's jam-packed with tourists and lined with junky tourist shops. The hotel is close to the Louvre and the Tuileries Gardens which is a positive, but I much prefer Ile Saint Louis neighborhood. Have a fun time in Paris!

Yes, there are tourist shops along the Rue de Rivoli, but there are also the Hotel Meurice (one of Paris' best) and Angelina's. The Brighton is a very nice hotel for a few days if you get a room facing the Tuileries. You will get the same view you can see in the famous impressionist paintings: Place du Carrousel and The Tuileries, Basin, Afternoon, Sun by Camille Pissarro View of the Tuileries
by Claude Monet For longer stays, you might prefer the Ile Saint Louis area

Ile Saint Louis has Berthillon and is much more charming, peaceful and enchanting, whether it's for one night or many. Angelina's is way over-rated imo. Rue de Rivoli is also jammed with 3 lanes of cars at all hours.

Another vote for Hotel Lutece...I stayed there one time and really enjoyed it. Would go back again for a splurge - I love the location!
