We are traveling from Paris to Brig - 2 days- going to Oeschinensee then on to Venice. Is this route scenic or should we be looking into other areas of Switzerland- we only have 2 days and I considered Interlakken but we then have to back track to Spiez then down to Brig.
Scenic is foremost.
Spiez is also a nice area to stay. In that whole areas the trains are frequent and efficient - so an extra hour here or there could get you where you need to be. Wake up early and have a snak on the way to maximize time. The hotels will often prepare a breakfast for you to take along (since its often included) if you tell them you will leave early and cant stay for buffet!
I suggest that Interlaken is a far better stay than Brig. It's only 20 minutes to train in from Spiez. Rick Steves describes Brig as "an ugly industrial town with good connections to other train lines" (his writing not mine). There are some very quaint places to travel to out of Brig but by the time you get there and visit, you could have been in Interlaken.
