Brief visit to Swiss Alps on the way to France - which town?

Hello, We are landing in Zurich and want to spend just couple of days hiking and seeing the natural beauty in the Alps before we head to Paris.
IS Lucerne a good place to stay for hiking and seeing the mountains or is there some other place that would be better and not involve too much extra travel?

Luzern is nice city and easy quick train ride from Zurich. But if you are looking for great hiking in the Alps, then go to Lauterbrunnen, is about 2 1/2 hours by train from Zurich. Use that as your base for 2 days hiking in Berner Oberland. To get to Paris, you would need to take the local train from Lauterbrunnen to Interlaken, and from Interlaken you can connect onto the inter-city trains. Interlaken to Paris is a little more than 5 hours on the fast inter-city train.

We stayed in a little town/village called Spiez, about 30 min I think by train to Lauterbrunnen (north of Lauter)...and went up to Murren - beautiful/breathtaking..I'd second Lauterbrunnen area - make sure to see Trummelbach Falls!

Ditto on Lauterbrunnen. Also, don't miss Jungfraujoch if you can handle the altitudes!
